Make you hesitate...before you speak

What do you love?
Why do you hate?
What are the things,
In this world,
With which you relate?
What is a friend?
Is it someone on which,
You can depend?
What is pain?
What is shame?
How do you escape,
From all the things that haunt you...?

I am asking you questions!
I am looking for answers!
I want to know!
What do you hide,
And what do you show?
Do you have to choose,
To hold on, or to let go?
Do you accept the truth that's known,
Or do you lie, and deny...?

Tell me, are you alive?!

What do you fear?
And do you hold it,
Keep it near?
What is passion?
Is it a chemical reaction?
A slight infatuation?
Some think it's a distraction!
Where do you turn,
When you've no-where left to go?
In a room full of people...
Why are YOU alone?!
Why do you regret?
Why don't you realize,
That nothing is ever gone...?

I am asking you questions!
I am looking for answers!
I want to know!
What do you hide,

All these questions, they represent being alive, what we go through everyday, Our passions, our fears.

Our love, and our hate.

These are the things that makes us feel ALIVE.

I know I'm alive, are YOU?

5-13-2014: "Alive", almost 6 years later, finally got a complete reworking, it still says exactly what it should, but it, without a doubt, says it better. There have been heavy revisions and complete rewrites throughout the piece.
